The Federation of European Societies on Trace Elements and Minerals (FESTEM) is a non profit organisation founded in 1997, under the initiative of three societies from Italy (AISETOV), Germany (GSM) and from French speaking countries (SFERETE). Two other societies joined the Federation in 2002, one from Spain (SEQC-ET) and one from Russia (RUSTEM).
The aim of the Federation is to increase the collaboration, the diffusion and the exchange of information on scientific activities of participating Societies.
The FESTEM aims to encourage all kinds of activities in the field of trace elements and minerals including development of research or educational projects, organisation of scientific meetings, search for financial support through private or international organisations, etc.. Detailed information concerning the past and current activities of the FESTEM can be found in the Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology, the official organ of the Federation.
The Federation has been officially registered at the University of Grenoble and at the “Prefecture de’l Is’ere” and the statutes of FESTEM have beeen published in the “Official Journal” of the French Republic. The executive board is composed by two person per society with a right to vote. Additionally, there are a treasurer and a vice-secretary as members of the bureau, without right to vote.
The FESTEM is supporting meetings and congresses.
